The Huila Department is home to many of our favorite coffees, whether they are dependable staples like our "Santa Maria," or a higher quality microlot like this "Lote 3." On the cupping table we found a range of different berry notes, some citrus, bright but balanced acidity (almost like white wine), with great sweetness (tons of brown sugar and wildflower honey) and a smooth finish. Depending on your extraction, you may get some herbal tea or silky milk chocolate notes as well. This coffee does well with a range of different brewing methods, from espresso to French Press and everything in between.

This is our second straight year purchasing Lote 3 and we plan to continue purchasing it for years to come. This is a good one!

"Finca Lote 3 is located in Santa Maria, Huila, Colombia and run by Miller Sarmiento. The farm sits at an elevation of approximately 1,952 m.a.s.l. and consists of 8 hectares in total. Of those 8 hectares, 4 are planted in coffee, with about 14,000 trees. Within those 14,000 trees, Miller grows a mix of Red Caturra, Orange Caturra, Typica and Castillo; this lot is a mix of Red and Orange Caturra. Miller ferments the coffee for 24 hours in cherry, de-pulps and then ferments for an additional 36 hours. Upon washing, the coffee is laid out to dry for between 10-14 days, depending on the climate. This is our second year working with Miller, whom we met through our Santa Maria buying station and the work we do together with Association La Victoria."

Roasting and Shipping Schedule:

Coffee is roasted on Thursdays. If you order anytime up until 12pm (noon) Wednesday, we will roast and ship the next day. Orders received after 12pm (noon) Wednesday may not get roasted until the following week. If we have extra inventory, we will ship ASAP.
