We're excited to have Café Giraldo back for the second year in a row. We are moving more and more towards purchasing the same coffees every year to provide more financial security for the farmers with whom we have established a relationship. This coffee replaces Colombia Santa Maria (which will very likely return in the fall/winter).
This coffee is very approachable while still having the sweet fruitiness that we seek out in all of our coffees. Some of our tasting notes on this coffee (in no particular order!):
- Sweet chocolate, light red apples, pear, caramel, creamy, clean, fresh, watermelon, yum.
Café Giraldo is strictly highland grown Colombian coffee. Farms are situated at an average elevation of 1,700 to 2,220 meters above sea level, with small farm sizes of 0.5 to 2 hectares in part due to terrain. The town of Giraldo itself is on a steep mountainside with breathtaking views of the Cauca river and surrounding valleys. The microclimate in this region means temperate day temperatures with cooler nights allowing for sweetness to really blossom in the coffee cherries.
